| Geography of Calverton
- As an unincorporated area, Calverton's boundaries are not officially defined. Calverton is, however, recognized by the United States Census Bureau as a Census-designated Place, and by the United States Geological Survey as a populated place located at (39.057009, -76.944805)[1]. On the Montgomery County side, many residents of Calverton consider themselves to live in a section of Silver Spring, the central area of which lies to the southwest at the intersection of Colesville Road and Georgia Avenue. On the Prince George's County side, many Calverton residents consider themselves to live in part of Beltsville, the central area of which is just east of Interstate 95. According to the United States Census Bureau, the place has a total area of 4.7 square miles (12.2 kmē).None of the area is covered with water. |

| HISTORY OF THE COUNTIES | From the Maryland State Archives site: Origin: Prince George's was erected from Calvert and Charles counties in 1695 (Chapter 13, Acts of 1695, May Session). The County was named for Prince George of Denmark (1653-1708), who was the brother of Christian V (1646-1699), king of Denmark and Norway. Prince George was the husband of Queen Anne (1665-1714), who ruled Great Britain and Ireland from 1702 to 1714. List

Created from Frederick County by resolve of the
Constitutional Convention of 1776, Montgomery County
was named for Revolutionary War General Richard Montgomery (1738-1775).
Born in
Swords, County Dublin, Ireland, General Montgomery died leading
Continental forces against Quebec. The County was named in
honor of General Richard Montgomery, the first general to die fighting
